When Darwin landed at the Galapagos islands ~150 years ago, he discovered the mockingbirds, which in fact got him starting to form ideas on evolution. Today, those same mockingbirds are highly endangered, but by using DNA from Darwin"s original specimens, scientists can select the best birds to re-introduce to the island.
