Traumatized: Dissection edition

Frog dissection is a super thing. Especially when your frog isn't quite dead yet and your teacher decides to kill it infront of you by smacking it on the table....

That's how it all went down for me today. I'm still shaking.

Oh yeah and i'm the excited one on the left if you were curious...

OMG!! I had this exact thing happen in my biology class. I was traumatized for life.

Wow, guess I'm really lucky. I've never really dissected anything like frogs.

If I had stayed at my old school I would have had to disect a cow brain.. fun fun.....

Instead, I went to an environmental school, where one of our chickens died so our teacher dissected it in front of us. We discovered the source of it's death- an egg had grown so big inside of it, it couldn't function right... It was freakish and gross, and it made people cry. I almost puked. xD

Ick, I don't think I'd have the stomach to do it myself, though... but I have to take Bio next year... gulp

It really isn't that bad.

We were playing with them the day before (observing how they move, breathe etc.) and he killed them that night. Which was nice since they didn't smell like the preservative stuff.

But they were supposed to be braindead so we could see the heart function and stuff (which was so neat!) but ours wasn't brain dead enough. I'm still shaking.

That is a great clip. I still remember that we had one guy in our group, and he did all the disecting for me. Otherwise I would have been traumatized for life just like you.

I don't mind it actually.

Just watching my teacher kill a frog infront of me and almost cutting open a live one scared me.

My teacher tried to tell me rapping the frog's head on the side of the desk was more humane than sticking a pin in its brain. I'm not so sure.

You're right not to be-they should do the computer program for dissecting animals instead of wasting life

I agree that a computer animation dissection would be better, then later in life for all the kids who think they want to be vets or doctors, can do dissections then if necessary:)

i dissected a frog-which had eggs in its you-know-what, a sheep's heart, and a cow's eye

I've done an owl pellet, worm, fish, cow's eye, squid, fish and frog.

In advanced bio/anatomy at my school you do a baby pig.

That was really great. That really made me laugh hard. I, fortunately, have not had the experience of any dissecting.

Yeah, I watched my dad dissect a fish. It wasn't so bad, since I was the age that "gross was SO WICKED!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!". Pretty muchly. :D

It's just.... at my old school, we each "adopted" our own chicken, and we identified them by colorings and tags. Plus we grew pretty attatched to them. But this kid's died, and so all who once know that chicken were like "...!!!!!.....". I felt so bad for him! Plus it was really really really bloody.
My teacher had to wear one of the operation aprons, gloves, and even a mask..... mmm, inards!

They freak me out...like monkeys.

But i'm still sorta in that "OH SNAP GROSS STUFF! :D" time..I always have been :P

That's why my friend chose me as her dissection partner, because she knew I would do it. But the funny thing is, she did most of it because after our teacher slammed the frog on the table I was shaking so bad and couldn't steady my hands enough to do it right that she had to cut it. She won't let me live it down.

ive disected a baby pig once, it was so digusting!! i hate the smell, and i was the only girl, bleh, im scared for life.

Hahaha!!! Thats funny! Last year in Science we had do disect a dead squid. Ewww!!! The room smelled like dead squid for the rest of the week. And after we were done doing that i picked up the tweezer thingys and starting poking around on it and i lifted up this one "part" of it and waht i saw almost made me barf!!!

Oh and on Monday this week we electrocuted a pickle! Haha it was fun and the pickle was glowing lyk a lightbulb!!! And the room still smells like burnt pickle.

the only thing i've dissected is a flower

But we are dissecting frogs at the end of the year o.o I hope that doesn't happen

I'm glade I'm home schooled!!! since I'm a vegetarian, I would rather run through a field of spikes then kill that cute little animal, but since I'm homeschooled I don't have to! WAIT!!!! I dissected cows eye in a Monday home school place, (before I loved animals a lot)
